The Academy at C.F. Thomas’ first Campus-Home-Cooperative meeting (CHC) is Tuesday, Sept. 27,

6-7:30 p.m. Parents will have an opportunity to learn about the “growth mindset” and get a feel for how it is explored and cultivated here on campus. The agenda also includes information about attending school on a Title I campus. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The Beginning/Conversational Sign Language for Adults class will be held Thursdays, 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 29 – Nov. 17 in the library at Porter Elementary. Students are free. All proceeds benefit BISD’s private instrument lesson program.

BISD is sponsoring “College and Career Night” on Nov. 2, 6-8 p.m. at the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL). Representatives from more than 100 colleges, universities, recruitment centers and professional institutions will meet with students and parents to talk about their programs and answer questions. BCTAL is located at 7020 Mid Cities Blvd. in North Richland Hills. For information, contact any BISD high school.

 

BISD is accepting online applications for parent/community volunteers for the 2016‒17 school year. New and returning volunteers can submit their applications online at birdvilleschools.net/volunteerapplication. All volunteer applications expired in June 2016. All volunteers must complete a new application for the 2016–17 school year.

 

BISD has an employee recognition program called “Touch of Class.” This program is an opportunity for students, staff, parents and community members to recognize employees for the extraordinary things they do for children and the District. Birdville ISD and JPS have joined to provide two school-based clinics in the District. One is in Haltom City at 2807 Layton Ave., and the other is on the south side of The Academy at C.F. Thomas Elementary at 8200 O’Brian Way in North Richland Hills. The clinics treat students in BISD and their siblings, ages newborn to 18 years old. Services include well-child visits, sports physicals, acute care, chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes), immunizations, and much more. The clinic does not have X-ray capabilities or dental services.
